A Sculpture Collective

Sculptures with soul

Hand-formed sculpture in painted iron and stone — a small group of makers, each with their own hand and material.

Kris Dorsz and Friends brings together a small group of sculptors, each working from their own studio and place, united by a shared practice in painted iron and carved stone — hand-formed, without molds or casting. Kris Dorsz himself has worked from southern Spain for more than 35 years; the collective's work has found its way into private gardens and collections across Europe, and into public commissions closer to home, from stone donated to a museum in Poland to trophies made for the Feria de Algeciras.

Kris Dorsz's own practice traces back to 2005, when early experiments with paper-mâché opened the door into sculpture and painting. What followed was years of testing material directly by hand — wood, glass, stone, bronze — before painted iron became the primary language. That same hands-on approach is passed on through workshops for young artists in both Spain and Poland.
